UN Security Council to hold urgent meeting on N Stream on Friday

UN/WASHINGTON/MOSCOW, Sep 30 (PRIME) -- An urgent meeting of the U.N. Security Council requested by Russia in connection with the attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines will be held on Friday at 10 p.m. Moscow time.

Late on Thursday, U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said that the U.S. will not speculate about who is responsible for the incident at the Nord Stream pipelines and insists on the need to wait for the results of the investigation.

Operator of the Nord Stream gas pipeline said that it cannot predict the timeframe for Nord Stream's gas transportation infrastructure restoration until the damage assessment is completed. The company plans to start assessing the damage after receiving official permits, the operator added.

On Monday, pressure drops and gas leaks were detected in a thread of Nord Stream 2 and in both threads of Nord Stream in the Swedish and Danish waters. Germany, Sweden and Denmark did not rule out an attack on the pipelines. Later Reuters reported that Sweden's coast guard discovered a fourth leak on Tuesday.
